Jeepney problems in Cebu

In the city of Cebu there are many jeepneys, they are the most accessible transportation for everyone because there are no schedules and cheaper. About twenty people could fit in an average jeepney,  most passengers are students and employees. Since, these months spells Christmas or "pasko" here are some things happening inside the jeepneys.

Today, the jeepney drivers are pretty annoyed with the kids jumping in and out of their jeeps. Who are these people jumping in and out?... They are children and teenagers who jump in the jeeps and sing Christmas Carols in a "new manner", yes, they are not your usual serenading kids outside of your doorsteps. They ask for money from you after they sing their jingles then they leave after a few minutes.

Based on my observation, they get inside the jeepneys and have this introduction saying "were just innocent kids singing Christmas jingles". When they get in, the first impressions of the passengers are getting conscious, nervous, annoyed or simply "where are your parents???". In this situation the drivers get angry at them because they jump in or out when the vehicle is still moving. The driver get concerned about this kids because of what might happen to them, like an accident of falling or getting hit by another vehicle, that might add up to the drivers problems and business.

Sitting in the passenger seat makes you want to think "should i give them money?",inside you feel pity at the same time doubt. Pity, these kids might not have taken their lunch or breakfast or raises another question "why aren't they at school or something??". Doubt, there's this fear that you might get snatched or rob or maybe something else bad.

How are you gonna solve this problem? Can everybody comply to your solution easily?

One time there's this angry passenger in front and there were kids singing in the middle of the aisle, the driver keeps saying "get out from here!!! while were still on hold". The passenger in front lied "here i have 20 peso come here closer". The eyes of the kids were worried and doubting cause he  was so eager to give them,
so the kids left, maybe they were afraid of the man in front. After they left, the man says "those kids are really risky doing those things in the streets".

Cebu Tips for Tourist 3

Food

Be careful when you eat in local food they might affect your sensitive stomach.

+The unique Hanging rice is found in Cebu only. It is your typical rice packed in coconut leaves and cooked.
It taste great, the locals usually eat this right when going to the beach or party at the pool because its intact and cheap.
+There are also fast foods all over the city like McDonald, KFC, PizzaHut, YellowCab..etc.

+Buy Bottled water do not drink on faucets, we're not like Singapore.
+Restaurants are expensive but its good.
+ In US you serve bottomless drinks...like giving empty cups and you fill it in with whatever you want and how much you want it.... Here your served with a limited amount of drink. US cups Small = Cebu cup Large.
The serving is smaller than you expected.
FOOD is Expensive here

Cebu Tips for Tourist 2

Hi if your not from Cebu then hope this helps else skip your eyes.

What will i do in Cebu? Whats great about Cebu anyways? It's just an island like the others.

Hmm.. Cebu is a place where you want to be stable and get connected with the world. Cebu is a typical city. Treat Cebu as your "Headquarters" because  Cebu is located at the center of the country.

Cebu is home to a lot of five star hotels, clubs, malls, school and telecommunication.
hmm ... this still doesn't answer the first question....
hmm... hmmm.. ahh! Beaches
Yes, beaches, there are a lot of hotel resort in Mactan island that would be in the International Airport so its close. What to do now is to pick among the fun activities the resorts offer. Experience being an astronaut under water.Scuba diving, the best, since Mactan Island has great coral reefs you should not miss that befor climate change wipe it away. Swim with the fishes by snorkling,or simply swim. If you want a thrilling water sport try "Para sailing ","banan ride" or simply "jetski", so far thats all i know but thier are new fun things you can do with nature under water. Lastly, if your with a group of people on vacation, try i mean don't try don't miss an Island hopping... it is where you and your friends or family ride a weird looking boat... called a "Pam boat", i don't know how to spell the word, but anyways, the trip takes you to different island oasis you can hop 3 or more times.  The trip cause about p3000+ for 15+ people.
Tip: The pristine  beaches are found in the northern part of Cebu i mean the tip. It is there where commercial and pollution is very very minimal. Malapasqua  Google this.

Enough with the sea trips and fun... the land is also fun lol. In Singapore its more on technological amazement here in Cebu the further you are from the city you will see Nature and Asian Culture.
Land trips.... hmm..
There are  a lot of museums in and out of the city. The latest museum is found in the city just 15 minutes away from the Intl. Seaport. There  are also many old churches with unique Spanish architectural designs. These churches are found mostly in provinces. and two in the city.
At night, either you go to Clubs and parties or KTV bars... found in the heart of the city. If you want to feel the cold air i suggest you go to Busay to Tops... where you can see the whole city from above and its chilling there. If you want a thrilling ride on the sky check out the Crown Ragency's Sky Walk and Edge Coaster. It's in the tallest building in Cebu with beaming lights at night.

That's all i can tell you about Cebu and its neighboring islands because i don't want to spoil your fun. There are still 100+ things to do.

CEBU Tips for tourist

Hi if your a foriegn person in Cebu, Philippines well read this, if not then skip your eyes.

I am going to share to you about our city and how some stuffs work around here.

Transportation
In other countries, people use trains, buses, taxi and light rails to travel publicly, well most people have cars in other countries though, here in Cebu there are a lot of means of public transportation.

Here are some public transportation found in Cebu.

* Jeepneys( The most common form of transportation it looks like a classic military vehicle and can fit 15-25 people can fit. It follows a route depending on its sign i.e. 11D, 08F, O9G. This ride is colorful and whats amazing is that you will learn more about life, hear stories, meet new people, experience weird stuffs, constricted when full. Beware do not show of your cool phone or jewelry it might get lost or stolen. Lastly, It hard to miss one they don't have schedules like a typical bus in the States or in other countries, so just read the signs they are all over the cities.)
*MiniBus(a little smaller than a regular bus but also travels from City to Provinces, usually the fare is about P50+ i guess)

*Bus(we all know that)
*Taxi(duh!!.. we also know that...meter starts at P30 = $0.80 more or less.)
*Triclycle( a motorcycle hooked up with a little passenger seat on the right side, with one extra wheel on the side fare is avereage of P6.00 more or less, can only travel within the radius of the town, and does not travel from City to Provinces. you can stop anywhere even at your house.)
*Tri-c-cad ( similiar to Tricycle ,travels within the radius of the town, but powered by Human Energy... no not Chevron..."MAnual LAbor!!", yeah its true. The Tri C cad can accumulate 2-3 people. They are operational 24 /7 right on the corners in subdivision, villages and in places where you wouldn't expect a jeepney or a taxi to get in. They are like affordable taxi if you need to get to your house but depends on the driver's decision.)
*Habal- habal (this form of transportation is for provinces and mountainous areas where a regular car cannot drive in. It is a motorcycle where there are only two passengers can ride most of the time. You ride Habal-habal when you go to the provinces  and also in villages with an inclined and steep road. If your staying at a mountain side this is the ONLY transportation for you ...or else WALK!. ^_^)

* Tartanilla (tar-ta-niyl-ya  a very old way to travel but fun to ride. The tartanilla is powered by one horse power literally. It is a cousin of a carriage its really fun to ride this because its slow and there is a  lingering feeling and tells you to look at around the surroundings. This is the slowest form of public transportation about 4-6 people can ride. It is usually common in downtown near the public markets.)

The highway, not a freeway, yes indeed, because almost everyone can cross anywhere in the highway if there are no barbed wires in the middle of the street and no police officers or simply if your not caught LOL. The highway is different from other highway on other countries because you can stop almost anywhere when your riding a jeepney or any public transportation.
The sidewalks, in the provinces, places far away from the city , the sidewalk is much better there than in cities.
The sidewalks are more intact and clean.

TIP: Do not wear heels walking in the city...the sidewalks have a lot of cracks. Be careful do not catch attention for people will look at you anyway. People in the city don't say "Hi, how are you?" in public cause they are busy but they are friendly and they don't express that way they do it much better. When calling for a ride like a jeepney, taxi, etc. Wave your hand above your head diagonally pointing outward, just like calling a waiter and "Pssst!!!!!"(optional).

There will be more .... will be posted
